SUMMARY:NaTakallam: Refugee Voices
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Student Engagement will be hosting NaTakallam’s Refugee Voices event which involves participants listening/discussing with an interactive guest-speaker who identifies as a refugee. Each session promotes enriching conversation that will equip our students with a more nuanced global awareness and an ability to encounter diverse ‘others’ with empathy. NaTakallam leverages accessible technology and the gig economy to empower refugees. Each virtual session contributes directly to refugee livelihoods\, at a time when they might be cut off from the local labor market\, in camps\, or in other transit circumstances. After the one-hour guest speaker\, a student\, Clara Sherwood\, asked to lead a group discussion for the students who attend to promote intellectual conversation regarding immigration\, refugee rights\, and cultural sensitivity. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://washjeff-edu.zoom.us/j/4236630833?pwd=d3pNZmRYdEt5c0NGVUZmZGcyOElRdz09 \nMeeting ID: 423 663 0833\nPasscode: refugee
