SUMMARY:Hannah Parrett & Britny Wainwright
DESCRIPTION:This two-person exhibition explores relationships between ceramics\, fiber\, and painting. Through the overlap of two artists’ languages in repetition and pattern\, familiar objects of domestic life are re-assessed in a public space. Painted curtains camouflage and reveal false interiors\, ceramic vessels are framed by textile cushions\, where together they create the possibility of a private space. This show uses quilted images and materials to explore different methods of meaning making through the piecing together of fragments. The structure of the quilt is a starting point in both artists’ work in identifying its power as an object of memory and an object that can function as a storytelling device.\nHannah Parrett lives and works in Columbus\, OH. Parrett received a BA from Maine College of Art & Design\, Portland\, ME and an MFA from The Ohio State University\, Columbus\, OH.\nBritny Wainwright lives and works in Columbus\, OH. Wainwright received a BFA from the School of Art & Design\, Alfred University\, Alfred\, NY and an MFA from The Ohio State University\, Columbus\, OH.

Set in Mississippi in the 1970s\, the story explores the plight of the three eccentric MaGrath sisters who are betrayed by their passions and must come face-to-face with the consequences. It’s witty\, irreverent\, charming\, and unapologetic. While light-hearted humor draws audiences in\, the play takes unexpected turns\, and suddenly\, it invites us to examine troubling truths about life\, love\, and the endless complexity of human relationships. The arcs of the sisters’ journeys reveal innumerable definitions of what it means to be a woman\, reminding us that every person sees and experiences the world in their own entirely unique way.\n“While this play overflows with infectious high spirits\, it is also\, unmistakably\, the tale of a very troubled family. By night\, she is a performer and director at local theatre companies\, most recently directing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Simon Stephens at Little Lake Theatre in Canonsburg.
