Kathleen Shaffer

Adjunct Professor of Flute

Degrees: BFA, Flute Performance, Carnegie Mellon University; MA, Music, Rice University

Katie Shaffer is the Principal Flute for the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.  She has also performed with the West Virginia Symphony and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Katie is an active freelancer around the Wheeling and Pittsburgh areas. In addition to performing, she currently is the adjunct flute professor at Washington & Jefferson College. Katie has also served as adjunct faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and Westminster College. In addition, she teaches private flute lessons to students of all ages. Many of her students have performed in various All-State Bands and Orchestras, Honors Bands, and have majored in Music in college. She attended Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree, and Rice University, where she received a Master’s in Music Degree.
