WASHINGTON, PA (Oct. 24, 2018) – The Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) Center for Energy Policy and Management (CEPM) will hold the fall installment of its Annual Energy Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30, 2018 in Yost Auditorium of the Howard J. Burnett Center.
The event, titled “A Smart & Sustainable Future for Rural American Infrastructure,” will explore the ways in which small and medium-sized communities can plan, design, and fund infrastructure projects that are more environmentally sustainable. The event is free and open to the public.
Speakers include Steven Duong, AICP, Associate Vice President of Design, Planning, and Economics, and Tatum Lau, Senior Urban Designer. Both Mr. Duong and Ms. Lau are associates with AECOM, a Fortune 500 engineering, design, and construction company.
“The CEPM is pleased to welcome Mr. Duong and Ms. Lau to W&J to share their knowledge and expertise with the community. Their work exhibits how communities of all sizes can implement strategies to save energy and become more sustainable and resilient,” said CEPM Director Corey Young.
This events marks Duong’s second visit to W&J. Last year, he discussed his contributions to the Hyperloop project, an international initiative to develop an ultra-fast tube transportation system that would allow passengers to travel at airline speeds on the ground, all while saving energy.
In addition to working with AECOM, Duong is an adjunct assistant professor in the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Lau holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and a Masters in Architecture of Rapid Change and Scarce Resources from London Metropolitan University.
