Why Transfer to W&J?

W&J is Affordable

Part of ensuring your success is making sure you can afford the education you want. At W&J, we do that by working with students individually to get you as much financial support as possible. Transfer students qualify for the same merit-based scholarships available for first-year students, including the W&J Thrive Scholarship, our highest merit scholarship awarded to students who are committed to being leaders. Once you’re here, you’ll also have access to financial support for off-campus internships and research opportunities, including the Magellan Project, which provides funding for students to take on research projects of their own design, anywhere in the world. Transfer Credit

It is very important that the courses you have completed prior to coming to W&J are reviewed before a determination can be made that you will receive course credit for them. If you would like to know what courses may be accepted please contact Samuel Stanton, Assistant Director of Admission, in our Office of Admission. The Registrar’s Office, in conjunction with the Office of Academic Affairs and department chairs, will determine which courses will transfer into W&J. Any course accepted from another college will be recorded as credit by the Registrar.

Washington & Jefferson College typically accepts three-or four-credit college-level academic courses (with course descriptions similar to W&J offerings) with grades of a C- or above from an accredited institution for transfer credit. No more than 16 courses from other institutions may be applied toward W&J's graduation requirements. Only grades attained at W&J will be used to compute a student's grade point average. A student must complete 16 courses at W&J to obtain a degree.
