WASHINGTON, PA (Oct. 31, 2017)— The Center for Energy Policy and Management (CEPM) at Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) will kick off its 2017-18 Energy Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in Dieter-Porter 100 with a lecture from Steven Duong, the Design and Planning Texas Studio Lead at AECOM, a Fortune 500 engineering, design, and construction company.
The theme for this year’s CEPM lecture series is “Moving Forward: Energy and Transportation in the 21st Century.”
Duong’s talk, “Energy, Sustainability, and Transportation: The Hyperloop,” will describe the Hyperloop project, which is an initiative to develop an ultra-fast tube transportation system that would allow passengers to travel at airline speeds on the ground, all while saving energy. It also will look at the process of designing the Hyperloop route in Texas, a project that Duong is leading.
In addition to working with AECOM, Duong is an adjunct assistant professor in the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of Texas at Arlington.
