WASHINGTON, PA (May 29, 2018)—Washington & Jefferson College’s (W&J) Class of 2018 is already poised for success, taking on prestigious graduate programs, jobs, and internships after graduating on May 19, 2018.
W&J President John C. Knapp, Ph.D. wished the graduating class the best and welcomed them to the alumni community as they prepared to depart from the College during the Commencement ceremony.
“Very shortly you will join the ranks of W&J alumni – a network of thousands who are proud to share an uncommon bond. They will embrace and support you as one of their own as you find that love for this college burns bright around the world and across many generations,” Dr. Knapp said.
The new alumni are embarking on impressive educational endeavors. Jordan Hosfelt ’18 will begin a Ph.D. program in chemistry at New York University in the fall. Peter Sobraske ’18 is headed to Drexel School of Medicine, and Jacqualynn Anderson ’18 has a graduate fellowship and full scholarship to Ohio State University for a master’s degree program in Political Communication.
Other students are spending time around the world in cultural exchange programs. Victoria Healy ’18 will be an English Teaching Assistant in Bavaria, Germany through the U.S. Fulbright Program. Kayla Conforti ’18 will take on a teaching assistantship in Brittany, France through the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) and Michaela Culley ’18 will travel to Innsbruck, Austria, for a United States Teaching Assistant position through Fulbright Austria.
Still others are entering the workforce through positions with companies and organizations nationwide. Austin Proudfit ’18 is joining the Cleveland Clinic as a research technician. Tessa Delisle ’18 has accepted a district manager position with Aldi. Garrett Dunn ’18 will serve as a post-baccalaureate researcher for the National Institute of Health.
These are just a few examples of where this graduating class is headed. Throughout their time at W&J, the Class of 2018 challenged themselves both academically and professionally. They’ve held internships with NASA, CBS This Morning: Saturday, and Pittsburgh Homeland Security, among many other well-known local and national organizations and programs. They’ve presented their work at national and international conferences and earned prestigious scholarships. Now they are ready to take these experiences and apply the knowledge they gained at W&J to their future endeavors.
