WASHINGTON, PA (March 1, 2016)— Washington & Jefferson College’s (W&J) Winter Tales will return for its 14th year March 3 to 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olin Fine Arts Center Theatre. The performances are free and open to the public.
Debuting six to eight original one-act, 10-minute plays written by W&J students, alumni, faculty, administration, and staff, this year’s Winter Tales will be sure to include something for everyone.
“There are a number of very fine short plays this year,” said T. Scott Frank, Professor of Communication Arts at W&J. “There are dark comedies, an historical drama, a monologue play—something for everyone, who happens to be an adult.”
Winter Tales is always an exciting event for the W&J community, as members of the W&J community are able to showcase their hard work.
“This creative effort is open to all students and alumni. Winter Tales gives W&J students the opportunity to share their voices with other members of the community,” said Frank.
Performing in the Winter Tales are energetic W&J students who will bring to the stage a fresh and dramatic performance.
“Our 14th year will be an exciting one, I’m sure. We will bring together a cast of student actors who will perform the plays in concert readings which focus on the playwright’s text,” said Frank. “New plays from young voices gives the theater the energy it needs to stay vital. Because the Department of Communication Arts is dedicated to the development of student artists, we regard Winter Tales as an important part of our efforts to do so.”
