WASHINGTON, PA (Feb. 27, 2017) - The Olin Fine Art Gallery has played host to many unique and interesting exhibits, and coming March 10, it will add another to its repertoire.
Margaret Noble, an artist from San Diego, California, will display her body of work entitled “Resonating Objects” in Olin Fine Art Gallery from March 10 through April 9. On March 10, Noble will be on campus to speak to guests during the gallery opening from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Noble’s art is unique in that she uses her work to focus on the connections between history and contemporary society. She does this by using more than just one sensory stimulation.
“Through visual, sonic and kinetic interplay, I seek to provoke questions about contemporary identity and human relations,” she writes in her artist’s statement. “Specifically, I incorporate public and private histories from the narratives left behind by families, media archives and technology. I play with time travel as I move between generational influences, historical myths, and the future.”
This exhibit takes everyday objects and transforms them into interactive artistic masterpieces, allowing the participants to explore the meaning behind them. Noble’s goal is to make the experience as real as possible for the participants.
“For all works, there are many access points that create unique and personal time-based experiences,” she said in the statement. “I am exploring how we understand meaning and context through our experience of interconnected media. I am interested in creating personal moments in public places.”
“Resonating Objects” is the type of art exhibit that you have to experience in person to truly understand it, and Noble wants everyone to do just that.
**All Olin Fine Art Gallery events and exhibitions are free and open to the public. The Gallery is open seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m. during exhibitions, and is closed during college breaks. The Gallery is in Olin Fine Arts Center at 285 East Wheeling Street, Washington, Pa. 15301.
