We would like to provide some additional information to clarify how water can be used during the advisory.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for the following:

  • Drinking
  • Making ice
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing dishes
  • Food preparation

Additionally, the following steps are recommended for water use during this advisory:

  • Keep boiled/bottled water in your fridge for drinkingDo not swallow water while you are showering or bathing
  • Do not use home filtering devices instead of boiling as they will not provide adequate protection from microorganism
  • Use only boiled/bottled water to treat injuries
  • When showering or bathing, avoid allowing the water to come in contact with an open wound

Please note, it is still safe to use tap water for bathing and laundry but students should not consume the tap water during this time.

Safe drinking water and other beverages are available at the Commons and G&T’s during meal hours. Bottled water is available at the Office of Campus & Public Safety 24 hours a day, at the Rossin Info Desk until 8:00 p.m. tonight, and the Ross Recreation Center Desk until 11:00 p.m. tonight. Additionally, Parkhurst Dining Services have taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the campus community in their food preparations.

As this situation is still ongoing, we will be providing more information as it becomes available.
