WASHINGTON, PA (June 25, 2019)—Washington & Jefferson College’s (W&J) Office of Career Services is bringing national job searches right to students’ doors.

Handshake, a career management platform that connects students and young alumni with career opportunities nationally, will launch July 1. W&J students will be able to view jobs and internships posted by more than 300,000 employers—including all Fortune 500 companies—using the platform.

“One of the best features of Handshake is that there are more opportunities with diverse jobs in diverse places, and Handshake makes it easy for students to take advantage of that,” said Assistant Director of Career Services Jami Klingensmith.

In addition to connecting students with potential employers, the system will allow students to request appointments or mock interviews with Career Services. It will include a calendar showing when representatives from employers will be on campus, and will feature on-campus employment opportunities as well.

Students can create their profiles on the system this summer following the launch. Career Services is available to assist those with questions and will offer training sessions on the system during the fall semester.
