WASHINGTON, PA (Feb. 17, 2016) — This summer, Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) introduces the Global Summer Academy, an international summer program for middle and high school students that offers college prep courses, interest courses and workshops to introduce students to college.

The program, which premieres in summer 2016, is enrolling now and is open to students across the globe who will enter grades 8-12 in the fall of 2016.

“W&J’s Global Summer Academy opens the college experience to younger students in a truly unique way,” said Robert Gould, vice president for enrollment at W&J. “With expert guidance from W&J faculty and staff members, and academic opportunities in the community available exclusively through this program, students can choose their college experience and actively prepare for their futures.”

The Global Summer Academy is offered in two sessions: July 10 to 23, 2016 and July 24 to August 6, 2016; students can attend one or both sessions. During each two-week session, students will get to choose a “major” and attend an in-depth course on a specific topic area. Majors include psychology, business, creative writing, gender studies and the media, chemistry and biology prep courses, forensic science, conflict resolution studies, and SAT prep courses, among others.

Major-specific academic field trips with businesses and organizations in the Pittsburgh area will be offered, and workshops led by College faculty and administrators will prepare students for the college application process, including interview skill-building. Social, off-campus trips also will be part of the program.

For more information about majors, registration, travel information and more, see the Global Summer Academy website.
