WASHINGTON, PA (Sept. 6, 2016) — Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) continues to earn top grades, making lists of best colleges and universities in several national publications.

W&J is ranked in the top 100 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 National Liberal Arts College Rankings. It is listed in the 2016 edition of the "Fiske Guide to Colleges," which features 300 of the “best and most interesting” colleges and universities in the country, and The Princeton Review’s guide, “The Best 381 Colleges: 2017 Edition.” It also made the Forbes America's Top Colleges list, and Washington Monthly lists W&J among its top liberal arts college rankings for 2016.

W&J also earned a place on Kiplinger Personal Finance’s list of the Top 300 Best College Values of 2016, detailed in the article, "W&J Named a 2016 Best Value College by Kiplinger Personal Finance." Acknowledged for embodying exceptional economic and academic value, W&J is ranked in the top 100 of the magazine’s Best Value Liberal Arts Colleges of 2016, and ranks 272 overall.

In October 2016, W&J made Educate to Career's 2017 Best Value College list. W&J ranks in the top 100 of this list, and ranks #69 of all 1,195 academic institutions included. The College also is listed in the Scholar Match College Honor Roll, and is recognized by G.I. Jobs Magazine as a Top Military Friendly School.

“W&J continues its mission to provide students with the best opportunities possible, and we’re proud to be recognized as an institution that leads students to success,” said Robert Gould, vice president for enrollment at W&J. “Our faculty and staff are dedicated to the academic and personal development of our students, and their hard work is reflected by our recognition in these publications.”

U.S. News offers data on nearly 1,800 colleges and universities, including tuition, acceptance rates, class sizes, graduation rates, average debt of graduates and student outcomes. The Princeton Review’s annual college rankings lists are based entirely on feedback from current students. The “Fiske Guide to Colleges” looks at the personality of a school based on a broad range of subjects, including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.

Washington Monthly rates schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and Ph.Ds.) and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
