WASHINGTON, PA (Feb. 29, 2016)—Washington & Jefferson College’s (W&J) Office of Admission student Ambassadors and J-Walkers are hosting a book and movie drive for the Donnell House, a Washington County Hospice Care Center, both of which are open for donations from the public.

The drive will be held from March 10 to 18.

Hannah Aloia ’15, Visitor Services Coordinator for the W&J Office of Admission, hopes the drive will provide a sense of ease for both the patients in residence at the Donnell House and their families.

“A lot of families spend their time [there] and it is nice to give them something to read or watch to take their minds off what they are going through,” said Aloia. “The patients also have televisions in their individual rooms and can watch a movie or read a book if they choose to, which gives them a sense of normalcy and can get their minds off of everything going on around them.”

The first part of the drive was held in February and was successful, with 15 boxes of items collected and donated to the Donnell House. Aloia said she is pleased with the effort and is hoping to top the donation amount in the second part of the drive.

There will be red collection bins with signs for the movie and book drive located at George & Toms in Rossin Campus Center, U. Grant Miller Library, and the Office of Admissions. The movies donated should be rated either G, PG, or PG-13 and the books should be appropriate for all ages from young children to adult.
