WASHINGTON, PA (Feb. 26, 2019)—Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) will honor Joanne Burnley Ladley ’74 and Leah Lizarondo as Entrepreneurs of the Year at its 32nd Annual Entrepreneurial Leadership Dinner on Feb. 28.

Ladley is the co-owner and operator of Kitchen Kettle Village, a third-generation Lancaster County family business that has grown from a one-store operation to a village of more than 40 shops, restaurants, and lodging accommodations hosting more than 800,000 guests annually.

Ladley has been recognized for her business prowess in the past, receiving the Women of Influence award from the Central Penn Business Journal and the Athena Award from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry. She also was recognized as one of the 50 Best Business Women in Pennsylvania, and the Kitchen Kettle Village has received Spirit of Innovation and Lifetime Achievement awards from the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.

Lizarondo is the chief executive officer and co-founder of 412 Food Rescue, a technology and logistics organization setting the standard for retail food recovery. Creating the infrastructure for national retailers, 412 Food Rescue has prevented more than five million pounds of food from going to waste.

Lizarondo has received the Women of Influence award from the Pittsburgh Business Times. In 2018, Lizarondo was named Pittsburgher of the Year and 412 Food Rescue was recognized as Pittsburgh Tech 50’s StartUp of the Year, making it the first nonprofit to receive the award.
